"BYU-I D-NO!!!" & Scandals
Ok, before I cannonball into a massive rant lets get one thing straight. I am enjoying this school, the feeling is amazing, and the girls are great (woops... nearly wrote crazy, but I guess that works too.) But to be quite honest, it is all rather alarming. Especially the "Ring by spring or your money back" moto. It's ridiculous. I'm serious. Apparently it's a regular thing to be checked out as you walk down the hall to your science class.
(Happened to my roomie, funniest thing ever. The guy kinda stopped what he was doing and I saw his eyes start at her ankle and move to the top of her head. It was great, I tried not to die.) It is quite a dangerous place, especially when preparing to leave for a year and a bit. But during this time of trial, I recall the famous words of Disney.
I just can't deal with chaotic madness and all the RMs running amuck trying to find their other half. It get's quite scary to be honest because you'll be talking to a guy and trying to make friends and then the girlfriend walks up. Apparently talking to their man qualifies as flirting leaving them all
and then leaving me all
It's a rather scary process. It is apparently illegal to have guy friends here. (which is really depressing, I am having guy friend withdrawals). No offence to ya gals, but guys are loads of fun. (As long as they are not wife hunting.)
Awkward stories of the week:
1. One of my roomies and myself had gone to a thing to volunteer. At the ending of the meeting, the leaders were kind enough to feed us Pizza and lemonade and leaving us volunteers to mill about and communicate. While I was finishing my pizza this guy walked up to me, "Hey. I couldn't help but notice you in our group. I would like to get to know you better. So I was wondering.... could I have your number?"
My brain was going, ABORT, ABORT, ABORT!
After making a smooth escape, my roomie dissolved into laughter and said, "the look on your face!!!"
2. Long story short, be sure to clarify that you would like to go on a double date. Just so a room full of girls doesn't think you're a player, mkay?
