Halloween Shenanigans

Let me be the first to say, I am a stinker of epic proportions or as some of my aunts would say a Turd in Training. Let me explain, one of my best friends got his mission call and is set to leave for the MTC December 3d making his farewell around the weekend directly after Thanksgiving.  I, however, was very grieved to discover that I would not be able to make it to said friend's farewell. Thus, began the plotting. Being thoroughly disgruntled with the lack of a proper goodbye hug, I began to make plans to return back to my family's home without telling anyone apart from my partner in crime, roommates, and family members who had given their solemn oath not to breath a word of my schemes of evilness. Shortly after contacting my Partner in crime (Lizzy), I began to lay out my devious plan. After some coercing, Lizzy agreed to help me in my plot and a possible fall back plan in case I arrived back in town at a ridiculous hour of night that no Halloween creature should be up at.

Securing a ride was the easy part, getting ready to leave was the hard part. When I chose to leave was the weekend directly after midterms, however some teachers do not follow that suggested time of midterms. As a result, I wrote a 4 page essay and an hour in a half, lost quite a bit of sleep, and was diagnosed with looney-ness due to exhaustion by roommate.  Oh, and did laundry, that was important. I needed socks.
The drive up was uneventful, filled with lots of girl talk and jokes. I found my lack of books on that trip disturbing and my phone died halfway up so I wasn't able to record my grand entrance into my home. This is how it went down, I was the first person to be dropped off. After ninja-ing my way past the noisy livestock fence, I made it to the front door (the dogs had been put away otherwise my surprise would have been ruined) only to drop my suitcase and make a rather large KATHUNK of a noise. Stiffening for several seconds, I listened hard. Fortunately, the blaring noise of Jim Dale coming from the kitchen drowned out all of the noise I had been creating on the front porch. Letting out a sigh of relief, I fumbled with my keys before unlocking the door to creep inside and to place my suitcase, jacket, and pillow on the ground before calling out.

"Hello?"

There was about three seconds of dead silence before my mom came around the corner. The look of mass confusion on her face lasted for a couple of milliseconds before it registered in her brain who I was. Then came the shriek of happiness, jumps of joy, and near strangulation  followed.  This caused so much racket it sent everyone else scurrying down into the front room (except for the youngest boy, he was in lala sleeps-vill).  After everyone had a turn in hugging the Nat, questions followed.
“What are you doing here?!”
 “I came for Halloween.”
 “Where did you come from?!”
 “Clearly, the moon.”
“How did you get here?”
“Car.”
Then mom and I frosted cookies until I got sleepy and went to bed.
Friday was the killer, I was waiting to surprise all my friends still at home. It was the best.

The day after was mostly chilling with my one friend who had received his mission call and we made owl cupcakes (I recommend eating them ASAP because their eyebrows kept falling off.) Yeah, so that was my Halloween weekend. xD I had a ton of fun and absconded with a couple of my books for the trip home. I was also tackled when I got home by my roomie. Apparently, she missed me.
