Lizards, etc.
Howdy Y'all!
This week has been closer to the bland side. Nothing too adventurous has happened. So, I will apologize in advance.
We had 2 Elders come home this week in the Ward here (being a missionary when a missionary comes home is really weird... especially listening to a homecoming talk). The one gave his homecoming talk
served in Brazil, San Palo actually, and he is really struggling with English. (Sorry, having issues with accents).
One kinda funny thing that happened this week was Sister Johnson and I were sitting with the other Sisters in our district. I was looking at Sister Johnson, and the Sister Bronson (one of the other
sisters) makes a movement like she is going to say something. Upon asking her what she was thinking she told me, "Some of those faces you make are really intense... you could probably be in a
Western Movie." She then specifically went on to describe a classic gun scene that I could apparently fit into really well. Ha ha- that was kind of entertaining.
Sister Johnson and I have been up to our usual shenanigans. She caught two lizards. The first one was at a
member’s house and the second was trapped in our window screen. I was scared I was going to hurt the tiny little critters if I tried to catch them.
Last week was pretty good!

I went on exchanges with Sister H on
Tuesday and lots of good things happened. We taught a ton of less
actives. However, the funniest phone call happened during lunch. It was
this guy named Mark who called and was looking for Sister G- Sister Hs'
companion. He was very determined to
talk to her and meet one on one. At this point- my eyebrows were raised high in the air, and I was stifling laughter as Sister H tried to figure out what he was after, Sister G -or the message that they
shared. He also happened to say that something like "just seemed to click
when he saw sister G". At this point I am stifling laughter and trying not to fall to the floor. Sister H looked faintly alarmed, but managed to arrange a meeting at McDonalds. They brought a ward member with them, just in case. Unfortunately, Mark didn't show. Pft.
As a missionary it is highly encouraged we talk to everyone. This is something I struggle with. Sister Johnson and I have been trying really hard, as a result we met Andrea. The thinnest woman
I have ever met. She was only about 80 lbs. She proceeded to tell us about her story of finding faith in Christ. To start off, she didn't believe in much- let alone Jesus Christ. Then, one day as she was biking, she was hit by a car right in front of another Christian Church. She ended up in a coma. Her family was really distraught (Andrea had been giving a 10% chance to live). So, her sister and other family members did the only thing they knew how to and prayed. From that point something changed in her. She could feel a physical change. After she woke up her sister told her what had happened and that is how Andrea found her faith in Christ- One of the amazing miracles that happens every day.
One thing a lot of people are obsessed with in the Bible Belt is the Second Coming of the Messiah and they love to discuss all sorts of theories. It is quite fun to hear people’s ideas. Sister Johnson and I frequently freak ourselves out because of it. hahaha!
Side note: I have been rereading the Isaiah chapters in 2nd Nephi. They are really hard to understand, but really rewarding because they tell about a ton of history. Man, the Book of Mormon is great!
Love you all! Thanks for the updates on all the fun I have been receiving!
