Well Hello Again!
This past week has been very interesting. It has been the last week of training
(week 12) and so basically- that means Sister J has been in charge. I was not thrilled about that prospect. I prefer relaying information to people rather than actually calling the shots. Just call me Mom's second in command.
First of all, we had exchanges. I was paired with Sister Grosland and we... got lost.... We biked for about 2 hours straight trying to
figure out where we were. It was also raining the entire time so we were drenched by the time we made it to our dinner appointment. The Sister who we were eating with was a little old lady with bright red hair and a dog named Lucky- who is a wonderful gentleman. Upon seeing
our soaked disposition she offered us a change of clothes while our regular clothing was thrown in the dryer. Then the sister brought out these silk bathrobes- and that is what we wore. I had to resist the temptation to flap around and pretend to be Superman. Hahaha.
We also had an experience where an inactive member told us flat out that missionaries are insincere and robots. That Made me really sad. Sister G then tried to explain that we care and love him and his
family. That only made him grumpier than he already was. He then proceeded to say, "You don't know me and my family and therefore, that is not true." I began to get more and more frustrated with the
situation as the member tried to argue with Sister G. Being frustrated is not condusive to the spirit. So, I said a silent prayer and almost instantly a wave of calm and peace hit me as well as vivid memory of the Stake President laying his hands on my head setting me apart as a missionary. He blessed me with eyes to see people as Christ
sees them. Christ has a pure love for each of his brothers and sisters. I told this member, "Being blessed with that gives us missionaries the ability to love people unconditionally and that is good enough for me." He was quiet, looked at the ground, and didn't say anything else until we left. I have never confounded anyone before, but I can say.... I don't particularly like it.
I absolutely loved Conference, however. I loved all the talks, and it gave me answers to things I have needed answers to for a while. Man, I don't have time to email all my thoughts. Just know that I loved it!
Sister Christensen is being transferred tomorrow! Wish us luck!
Until Next Week!
