Cake

This week was officially nuts. We had conference, spent a lot of time at the hospital, encountered a really, really drunk man, I hit my 9 month mark, and we ate cake. Eating of the cake was the most important.
First of all, can I say that Sister Lassen is the bomb.com- she really is! She pushes me in a way that gets me out of my comfort zone with missionary work- which is something that I really need. She has been out a transfer longer than I have been. We also made a cake for my 9 month mark, and it was really delightsome. We added/swapped out ingredients. Instead of water we used some really rich chocolate milk and syrup. OMNOMNOM! Next time, there will be chocolate chips in it. Gotta love good cake!
I really LOVED!!! Conference! There seemed to be a really big emphasis on listening to the Spirit and following the prophet. There was a little more calling to repentance than I remember from previous conferences. The Elders really wanted to hear Elder Holland speak and they got a little worried when they didn't hear from him in the first three sessions, especially our district leader Elder Harris. Then- when they announced Elder Holland would be speaking all 4 Elders exploded and got really excited. Haha, it kinda reminded me of a cheering section at a football game.  But, on a more serious note, it is really important to follow The Prophet of God. He will NEVER lead us astray although, people of the world might say otherwise. Only the Spirit can teach and direct us in the ways we need to go. Learn how he works with you. The way he works with me is completely different than how he works with you. The Holy Ghost will never lead us to do wrong, either. If you don't recall feeling him in your life recently, something is probably wrong.
Remember Kristen? The Referral we got from the Leeseburg Elders three weeks ago? Well, she had a massive allergic reaction, amongst other things and ended up in the hospital. We visited her every day for three days before she was moved to a different facility. So, we can no longer teach her until she recovers fully and that probably wouldn't be for several months. :(  But, I know she will be baptized at some point, she just needs some time to heal and recover from this trial of hers, so keep her in your prayers. She needs all the blessings she can get right now.
Funny story of the week:
So, Amanda (member of our ward, convert of about 2.5 years), Sister Lassen, and I went out to Umatilla and we encountered a very inebriated man in his early 70's. We were following up on a Media Referral out in the back woods of the boonies.  After talking to the media referral, we turned around- and here he came on his little red lawnmower, swaying slightly, and clutching a beer in his left hand. After he figured out who we were, he began to proclaim how much of a heathen he was. Therefore, we shouldn't waste any time on him. He continuously elaborated on this and went into some detail we didn't need to know, but hey! He was drunk so his brain wasn't working quite correctly. Somehow, someway, he started on another tangent. Pointing at Amanda he exclaimed, "You are a very beautiful woman." He then pointed to Sis Lassen, "You are a very beautiful young woman." He pointed at me, looking slightly confused, and states, "You are a child! What are you doing back here?"
Unfortunately, I get this a lot. But hey, that means when I am about 80,
I'm going to look stinking awesome.
Love you all!
Don't forget to pray! ;)
Love,

Sister Nat Jarvis
