Silly Week

HI! HI! HI!

So, this week was MASS CHAOS! No joke, we dropped all but two of our investigators (which is good because we need to focus on the people who want to change!) So, that means lots of finding next week! Finding is always fun because the weird things always happen when finding!
Also, the best recovery for stress is to devour lots of popsicles in one sitting. In case anyone was wondering....

Our mass chaos week has led to strengthening my Testimony that God is always in control. Although, sometimes it doesn't look it.

This past week we discovered three cockroaches in our apartment. Our apartment is pretty clean and we had nothing that would attract them. On Wednesday I had a phone call with the mission doctor to check up on shoulders and things. While I was answering questions, Sister Lassen sat down on the couch to write in her journal, gave the mini dvd player a funny look, adjusted her position a little bit, and a MASSIVE COCKROACH went scurrying out from under the DVD player.... and Sister Lassen dashed across the front room into the kitchen, screaming like a little girl. -All while I am on Speaker Phone with Doctor Bean..... So, I had to explain what was going on, watch as the Cockroach was destroyed, and tried to answer medical questions.

We have been visiting Leo quite regularly. It has been quite fun and spiritual.  Sadly, we only get to see him in the evenings, and so- we become prey for Mosquitos. Leo, Sis Lassen, and I were sitting at the picnic table having quite a lovely conversation when Leo starts swatting at mosquitos. Normally- I am the one who gets munched wayyy too much. He starts killing mosquitos so enthusiastically that he nearly falls off the bench. He then promptly starts complaining that "American Mosquitos like to bite me because they don't know what Brazilian tastes like!"
We had a really good laugh at that.

The Elders had another baptism this week! They are on fire. I am so proud of them. Well, where there is a baptism, there is almost always a musical number... while practicing we did a funky thing with one of the verses where it was kinda stacked. So- we had one voice that was joined by another on the next line, and so forth. While we were practicing Elder Anderson came in after me, and he tried to sing Alto. It was really funny. But HEY! He nailed it. Way to go Tenor!

So, we had two musical numbers in one day, The elder's baptism was the last one. On Thursday we got a phone call from a Stake member asking us to sing at a man's funeral in our ward. So, we picked out a song, and then we showed up about an hour and a half before we had to be there to practice- only to find out that the funeral home didn't have a piano. -.- Sister Hunter was freaking out a little bit and- so were we. We managed to find a key board and had to choose a different song because the keyboard doesn't go as low as a piano. We had to pick a different song and prep it in less than 10 minutes. AHH! Talk about stress! We sounded really awesome, though. There were almost no members therel, apart from our ward members. This brother had a huge family! There was a man (and his family) there who was drowning in tears. We were able to talk to him and it turned out he's a less active member. His sweet, sweet 10 year old Daughter, Sasha was really sad. (she wasn't raised in the church). We gave her a hug and told her she would she her Papa again. She also loves to read, so we gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet. We don't know if anything will come of it, but I felt the spirit witness to us that we had managed to impact this little girl's life.

We also had interviews with President Berry this week and that was exciting. I got to visit with him and talk to him about some stuff that had been going on. At the end of the interview however, President Berry asked me "Sister Jarvis, how long have you been in Belleview?"

I responded : This is my 4th transfer here

President: Well, that is a long time! 6 months!

Me: I suppose.

President: Well, Don't worry. There are other areas in the mission that are in need of your expertise!

Me: What?

President then tries to back track: Oh, we don't know if it will happen at the end of this transfer or next transfer.....

Hmmnn... Guys, I think I might get transferred May 10th... just a hunch....
