You Know You're a Sister Missionary When:
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all had a swimmingly good week! :)
This week went pretty well and we managed to do quite a bit. As a result of this fun week I have composed a list of things that happen to Sister Missionaries.
-When Elders realize you do have a first name. My Zone Leader, who's has been my Zone Leader twice, didn't know my first name- and when he found out he said, "WAIT, you have a first name?" Totally joking of course.
-The surprise you get when you find out your old district leader is engaged. O.o Wait... people have lives after their mission?
- When you and your companion share a former companion in common and you both recognize little habits/facial expressions picked up from said former companion. It is really funny when Sister Lassen and I call each other out on it.
-When your companion gets so excited about getting stamps in letters that she starts cackling like a mad woman and waving them around in the air.
-Bowling for district Pday again? Man, elders! Yah gotta get more creative!!
- Catch all the Lizards/Gekos!
OK: On a slightly more serious and spiritual note.
Kim: She found out that she has skin cancer on her ear and its pretty nasty looking. We were on the phone with her shortly after she found out and she was really frazzled about the whole thing. Sister Lassen (man, she is super boss) managed to get her to calm down and explain about priestood blessings. Kim's reaction to finding out about them was relief and a "how soon can I get one?" We managed to get over there later in the day and made sure she got that blessing. Talking to her a few days later she said, "the blessing totally was from God." AHHH! She has a baby testimony! I love it!
Sometimes, as a missionary there a moments you won't ever forget. There is a Less Active here who is really struggling with many situations out of his control. We saw him- and I remember the gist of what I said after sitting there and visiting for a while, but the feeling I got after was - there are no words for it. I know I needed to be there for that moment and that lesson with that particular struggling person. I often forget how frequently missionaries are used as mouth pieces for the spirit. But when it does happen.... man....
I hope you all have a wonderful week and I can't wait to hear from you all soon!
All my love,
Sister Nat Jarvis
