The Letter From Around the World

(Posted by her Mom)

Hi!
Me again.
So this week was kinda blah.... not really much of a word for it. Most
of our appointments fell through on certain things, but that's okay. :)
So, interesting things of the week:
The Hurricane that was supposed to hit dissipated. There was a ton of excitement about it!
Apparently there is another one out there named Hurricane Fred headed in our general direction.
If it does hit- I know I will be safe, and I will be super excited for service opportunities.
So, at the beginnings of the week I was exhausted. Not sure why because we had the car this week,
but when Sister C and I knelt down to say our nightly prayer together and ... honestly- I am not sure what happened. Sister C was suddenly poking me and asking, "Sister Jarvis?" I sat bolt up right
and said "AMEN!" Rather loudly. I fell asleep during the prayer. Then about two nights later something woke me up. I couldn't figure out what! Then I realized- Sister C was praying in her sleep.
This wasn't the only time it has happened. But- its the first time I  figured out what the noise was.

Then, on Thursday, I got a letter from the mission office. On the front it said 'Sister Jarvis, sorry!
This letter has been around the world!' Upon opening it I realized it was a letter from my mom from July 27th, 2015. That brought the giggles. I wonder where it got lost.

Every Wednesday night we (the missionaries in our district) teach a Book of Mormon class.
Last Wednesday a woman brought her grandson. The cutest little black baby boy I
have ever seen. He looked like a doll. He was really sleepy and he kinda wandered over to me
and laid his head down in my lap. I could feel him using every ounce of his cute baby wiles to
get me to pick him up. I tickled the back of his neck instead.... I was dying and the Elders were rolling.
They know how much I love children. It was really hard not to pick him up! I had to use every ounce of willpower.

We had Stake Conference this last week and the Area Authority there was named Elder Parker.
He reminded me of a black version of Elder Holland, in his late 40's, with a hint of a Baptist Minister.
In other words, HE IS AWESOME! He made a very excellent point.  He said what we do as
members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is "We look to Christ"
and if we think about something we want to do we should ask ourselves;
"Does it help me look to Christ?"
Last night was amazing. Sister C and I met this guy named Avery who had experienced a lot of personal loss in is life.  We actually had been looking for his sister. We were able to share a Plan of Salvation video with him. Afterwords, he was quiet for a moment  before asking, "Will I be able to be with my loved ones again?" Upon hearing the word yes- that was it. He wanted to come to church, he wanted to go to Church service activities, and he wanted to do more. Obviously, there was a lot more conversation involved, but it was probably one of the most spiritually powerful moments I have ever experienced.  I was on spiritual cloud 9 for the rest of the evening!
Love you all!
~Sister Jarvis
